Shop

Welcome to the "shop" section of our website. Here, you will find a range of research materials for family historians that have been transcribed and compiled by our volunteers. We also sell books and maps of local interest, mainly published by other organisations. Publications may be purchased by "traditional" mail order, through our stall on the GENfair internet shop or by personal visit to the research room, our monthly meetings and our stalls at family history fairs and open days.

Bristol & Avon Family History Society

Methods of payment
We accept cheques, money/postal orders and cash. Cheques and money/postal orders should be made out in pounds sterling and drawn on a UK bank account. Due to the high bank charges levied, we are unable to accept foreign currency. The Society does not have credit/debit card payment facilities and customers wishing to use this method of payment should use our stall on the GENfair internet shop.

Information regarding prices
The prices shown on this website only apply to products purchased directly from the Society. Products purchased from our stall on the GENfair internet shop are charged at a higher price, reflecting the additional cost to the Society of providing this facility although the Society does not receive any additional income as a result.

Postage and packing
Postage and packing is charged on all items. If you wish to order a mixture of items or larger quantities, please email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Dispatch
We aim to dispatch all orders within 10 working days although in practice, the majority of orders will be dispatched within 24 hours of receipt.

Typical delivery times (from the date of dispatch)
• UK: up to 3 working days
• Europe: up to 10 working days
• Rest of the world: up to 15 working days

Whilst items are occasionally delayed in the post, in our experience their permanent loss is a very rare event and we ask that you allow twice the above times to elapse before reporting non-delivery. In the event of non-delivery, please email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

The customer is responsible for the payment of any local taxes and import duties that may be levied in the country where the goods are to be delivered.

Quality of Goods
All goods that we offer for sale are new and unused. They will be securely packaged and in good condition at the time of dispatch. In the event that an item is found to be damaged or faulty, please email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it  stating full details of the problem.
