The contents of this CD is divided into an occupier index and an owner index (click the links to see an example).
The Bristol Record Office holds the Tithe Maps and Apportionment books for many parishes within the Bristol diocese. These records, which cover mainly the country parishes can be of great value to family historians. They may help to locate an ancestor's home, show the amount of property they owned or rented, and as most are dated between 1840 and 1850 perhaps aid in finding them in the censuses for 1841 and or 1851.
Parishes included: Abbots Leigh, Almondsbury, Alveston, Bedminster, Bitton, Brislington, Bristol Philip & Jacob, Clifton, Cold Ashton, Compton Greenfield, Dodington, Doynton, Dyrham & Hinton, Elberton, Filton, Frampton Cotterell, Frenchay, Hanham, Henbury, Horfield, Iron Acton, Mangotsfield, Marshfield, Oldland, Olveston, Pucklechurch, Shirehampton, St George, Stapleton, Stoke Gifford, Syston, Tormarton, Wapley & Codrington, West Littleton, Westbury on Trym, Westerleigh, Whitchurch, Wick & Abson, Winterbourne, Yate.

£8.00 + postage & packing (shown here)
The contents of this CD is organised by the 1795 Chipping Sodbury map reference. Click to see an example of the contents.
In 1795, a map of all the properties in Chipping Sodbury was produced to aid the setting of the Poor Law Rate. Many of the owners, occupiers and trades carried on in these properties have been tracked up to the present time using sources such as deeds, directories and census data. The CD contains a pictorial record of all the properties with details of known occupiers since 1795.
This CD is the result of a project originated by the Sodbury Vale Family History Group of the Bristol & Avon Family History Society.
A PDF file containing an index of 1262 surnames recorded in alphabetical order with each map reference number is available to be downloaded free of charge.
