Indexes to Bristol Record Office Tithe Apportionment Books
The Bristol Record Office holds the Tithe Maps and Apportionment books for many parishes within the Bristol diocese. These records, which cover mainly the country parishes can be of great value to family historians. They may help to locate an ancestor's home, show the amount of property they owned or rented, and as most are dated between 1840 and 1850 perhaps aid in finding them in the censuses for 1841 and or 1851. Parishes included: Abbots Leigh, Almondsbury, Alveston, Bedminster, Bitton, Brislington, Bristol Philip & Jacob, Clifton, Cold Ashton, Compton Greenfield, Dodington, Doynton, Dyrham & Hinton, Elberton, Filton, Frampton Cotterell, Frenchay, Hanham, Henbury, Horfield, Iron Acton, Mangotsfield, Marshfield, Oldland, Olveston, Pucklechurch, Shirehampton, St George, Stapleton, Stoke Gifford, Syston, Tormarton, Wapley & Codrington, West Littleton, Westbury on Trym, Westerleigh, Whitchurch, Wick & Abson, Winterbourne, Yate. This index to Bristol Record Office Tithe Apportionment Books has been compiled by Meg & Ken Edwards. |
