B&AFHS OPEN DAY 2008

Research Room
Our Research Room is at the rear of the Bristol Record Office foyer.  We have six computers, including three with internet access and 'Ancestry' subscription, and microfiche readers.  Use of our resources is free to all and B&AFHS volunteers provide help and advice.  Open Wednesday a.m., Thursday p.m. and a.m. on the first two Saturday of the month.  Non-members welcome - just walk in.  You can also buy a range of books, source materials on fiche and CD and vouchers to access records on the 1901 census and the familyhistoryonline websites.

Members Surname Interests
Search our Register of B&AFHS members' surname interests.  New Members' Interests are listed in our Journal and most opt also for a listing on the website.  The website listing are frequently updated.  Members: please go to  Members' Interests to find out how to to add, delete or correct entries on your page.

Another new CD: 'Butcher, Baker, Candle Maker' - Chipping Sodbury from 1795 (Shop).  In 1795, a map of all the properties in Chipping Sodbury was produced to aid the setting of the Poor Law Rate.  Many of the owners, occupiers and trades carried on in these properties have been tracked up to the present time using sources such as deeds, directories and census data.  The CD contains a pictorial record of all the properties with details of known occupiers since 1795.
